Where do you stand on all-Black remakes of classic films?
They must be doing well because more are in the works, including a reported remake of the 1983 hit Terms of Endearment.

In an exclusive from The Wrap, it's reported that Paramount Pictures secured rights to the project and Lee Daniels is in talks to direct Oprah Winfrey in the remake. The two last teamed up with Daniels behind the camera and Winfrey in front for 2013's The Butler.
The original film starred Shirley MacLaine and Debra Winger as Aurora and Emma. They played a mother and daughter with quite the complicated relationship that is tested over 30 years before finally coming together after one is diagnosed with cancer. The film was an Oscars juggernaut in 1983, winning best picture, best writing, best director, as well as best actress for MacLaine (Winger was nominated in the same category) and best supporting actor for Jack Nicholson. He played Aurora's retired astronaut neighbor and love interest, Garrett.
If things line up as planned with the remake, Winfrey would play the somewhat insufferable character of Aurora, which would be quite the contrast from her everyday persona of joyful, sweet and lyrical in the things she says and does. And who would play Emma (though a name change would likely occur)? Lupita? Aja Naomi King? Someone should call Danai Gurira to play the character because that woman can act!
If all works out, we'll have to wait and see. If it doesn't, this could still be a cute idea for OWN to take on at least...
There has been no comment yet from Daniels or Winfrey's reps.
